Esty was appointed Commissioner of the Connecticut DEEP in 2011. Prior to that position, he served as Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University. At Yale, Esty served as Director of the Center for Environmental Law and Policy and the Center for Business & Environment. Esty has authored or edited ten books on environmental policy, trade, globalization, and corporate sustainability. He is the co-author of the 2006 book Green to Gold: How Smart Companies Use Environmental Strategy to Innovate, Create Value, and Build Competitive Advantage.
